03 Civic EX Cruise stops working while driving.

I have an 03 Honda Civic EX and the cruise control stops working while driving. Every time that I have had it happen I have been going between 45 and 75. The car will start to slow down and then the light on the dash will go out and the car keeps slowing down. I try to accelerate and reengage the cruise control but it wont work. Sometimes if I turn the cruise off on the dash and back on it will come back on when I set it. The car is an automatic if that matters. Any help would be appreciated.
