Tein s tech for 01 Honda Civic Ex

Hello everyone, new to the forum. I'm thinking of lower my car with Tein S Tech lower springs. Still have a few questions though. Do I also have to replace the shocks? Will it work with factory stock shocks? Tein says it does but alot of people says it will blow. Do I have to get camber kit for front and rear? Another thing, I have 215/45 17 tire, will the tire rub on the fender? Thanks ahead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Tein s tech for 01 Honda Civic Ex

When tein says they'll work on the stock shocks and struts, they really mean that they physically fit, they're not commenting on whether lowering springs are appropriate for an otherwise stock suspension. Lowering your car on stock struts and shocks will not cause them to blow immediately, but it they'll blow within a few months. Either lower with tokico blues or keep the car stock height.

You don't need a front camber kit, a rear camber kits not a bad idea but you can get by without it since s.techs have a very low spring rate.

You'll be close to rubbing on those tires, 205/45R17 would be much more appropriate.

Really? I have 215/45 17. A lot if people say it will rub. Can you post a pic of ur ride so I can see it. I'm thinking of going with Tein s tech with stock shock on my 01 coupe . Will it be dangerous to drive with blown shocks if it were to blow?

Yes, it's dangerous and handingly will become horrible and sloppy.

Either upgrade the struts or stay stock height.

I think that drop is perfect for me. So you say theres no rubbing what so ever and your on tein s tech? Did your spring settle yet? How long was the s tech installed? Are you on stock shocks or aftermarket?

Here is a pic of my stock springs and shocks

I don't have that setup anymore. That picture is over 6 years old. They were on stock shocks for a while, then I swapped out the shocks for Tokico blues

Re: Tein s tech for 01 Honda Civic Ex

the rubbing could be because of the offset of the wheel itself not so much the wheel/tire size. I tried swapping rims with a buddy a few months ago with same rim/tire size (215/40/17) and my rims wouldn't fit his because they didn't tuck

Re: Tein s tech for 01 Honda Civic Ex

So I finally decided to go with Tein S tech and Tokico Blue. I just bought my 215/45 17 tires not too long ago. Guess I can take the rubbing until I get new set of tires. Will it rub bad? How about drivable?

Seriously, like I told you in the PMs, if you're worried about rubbing, go get your fenders rolled. I had no rubbing issues with 215/45-17 and a +42 offset

Why would not being an expert prohibit you from having rolled fenders?

I have no experience with cars what so ever. After all my research, I decided to go with groundcontrol coilover so I can adjust the height whichever I want. Does anyone know if it can go with Tokico Blue?

Re: Tein s tech for 01 Honda Civic Ex

you'd be better off with Koni yellows. GC's are stiff as hell and can go pretty low, I believe that Tokico's are rated for like a 1.8" drop or so. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Did ton of research. Tokico blue can't go with gc coilovers. Well they can, but which will be blow eventually. Guess I'm back to step 1. Going to go for Tein s tech n Tokico blue. Any good deals out there?

GCs are adjustable, you can set it to a ride height above 1.8''; You can also order any spring rate you like, stiff as hell or comfy like s.techs.

Check out dezod, you should be able to get a decent deals on the s.techs from them.
