91 Lx- poor gas mileage

I drove 10 miles the other day and the gas gauge went Down.
Either my Honda is getting horrible mileage, or there is something very wrong with the gauge. Suggestions?
(yes, I'm a noob)

You can't use 10 miles and the gauge going down as a measure of mileage, go through a couple tanks and divide the total miles by the amount of gas you burned. If it's low you need a tune up.
