HOW DO YOU MAKE SPEEDO BLUE?
hello im trying to figure out how to make speedo blue not ac controls. the accual speedo i see it has orange on it but what do you do scrape it off what? please help my car is all a part
you can't. trust me, i've had my gauges in and out of my car trying different colors a thousand times now, and blue NEVER works. you can get a turquoise/aqua color by scraping the orange off and replacing it with a blue transparent filter...
if you're hoping to get a blue like VWs have, i have the answer. that's what i wanted too, but it just won't work using standard light bulbs (as opposed to LEDs). blue and violet are the darkest colors of the spectrum, and since the light source is not too bright to begin with, blue will just look black.

i've got a sedan -- it didn't have the orange layer, so i can't say that i know this will work for sure...
you'll have to take the needles off, since the orange stuff is on the underside of the faces. try some rubbing alcohol or sticky-cleaner (goo gone, etc.) to see if that will take the orange off... if not, rub it with some very-fine-grade (1000+ grit) sandpaper, maybe even soaked in water. careful not to rub too much off
check the "mega DIY thread" in tech stuff for some more detailed tips... and maybe wait a week or so, i'm planning on getting a detailed DIY up on this topic very soon.
once you finish gettin that stuff off, decide what color you want... this sounds ghetto, but i've had very good results with that 10-pack of sharpie markers for $7.99 at target/office depot the turquoise, yellow, red, and magenta look pretty sweet ,in my opinion... just "paint" that back side of the gauges with whatever color you want -- if you change your mind later on, it comes off easily with rubbing alcohol.

As far as I know the only way you can change the color of your speedo is to replace the gauge faces. Changing the bulds is not going to do it. The faces have the green and orange and blue built into them. Kinda hard to explain but just buy new faces.
