TPMS Sensors

Hello,
First, hello to everyone from a new guy.
Can anyone tell me when they started putting in TPMS tire sensors in the Civic?
I just bought a 2011 with hub caps and steel wheels and I have a deal on some aluminum factory wheels from a 2007 Civic EX and the guy says he doesn't think they have sensors.
If they don't have them what will happen when I install them on my 2011 or is this not a good idea?
Thanks for any advise

Re: TPMS Sensors

I believe they started this in 2008 I also think you can install them but the light will either be on all the time or it won't detect low tire pressure so you have to check it manuall (obviously). It's up to you how much you care about the TPMS. If however the light is on the dash all the time it would drive me crazy. Google it, there is a TON of info on it.

Re: TPMS Sensors

isn't the TMPS part of the valve assembly? So you should be able to take it off the old rims and put 'em on the new ones, no? Or rather, have a tire shop do it

^Not sure ... hmm... from what I've read you need aftermarket if you change rims.
