The cvt query

I owns a 01 civic vti cvt. I am new to the car and its first time i heard about cvt. I find that the revs are pretty low. I can reach 120km/h at 3000 rpm on normal drive gear. I thought honda is a high revs car? Is it normal?

To accelerate faster you have to change it over to sport and have the pedal to the metal. Or is that firewall? Whatever. At WOT and on sport setting the ECU will give it all it has to help you accelerate.

Yeh the car really save fuel. But will using the sports gear too often shorten the life span of the gearbox?
