Open loop when in boost
Open loop when in boost
Hey guysi have a 05 civic boosted running the aem fic. I have been wondering if its possible to trick the car into going into open loop when ever its in boost. I think its easier to tune that way plus i cant get it to run richer than 12.5-13.0afr when under partial throttle boost. I have considered just using one of the analog outputs and wiring my tps wire into it and then have the fic tell the car its at wot when ever its in boost. Then i can play with the fuel maps from there. The fuel trims are +- 2% when not in boost i just cant seem to keep them constant when in boost.
Just an idea and i was wondering if anybody has tried anything like this before.
Thanks,

Where in BC are you from?
In my opinion the only worthwhile EMS for a d17 is kpro, your pushing the capabilities of a fic running boost with it already, so I wouldn't be trying to trick it into doing things its not meant for if you value your engine.

Whenever you go full throttle, it goes open loop automatically. Above like 85% throttle, if I remember correctly. Beyond that, you can't really tune part throttle boost with F/IC. Go buy K-pro to fix that. Or just stay away from part throttle boost. Either mash it and go, or drive in vacuum. That's what I did.

And if you throw a voltage back at the ECU to simulate WOT when you aren't actually at WOT, the ECU is just going to dump fuel. It's going to use the fuel map for WOT at 60%, so your part throttle is going to be stupid rich, and it still has no drivability. Either that or you lean it out for partial throttle and then your wide open pulls are stupid lean. Just do the manual trans swap, or stick to WOT or nothing. It's much easier to change your driving style a little bit to avoid part throttle boost than it is to try and beat the stock ECU into submission, because it will win.

I posted pics last summer. The only change since then is i have blacked out the headlights. These are bad pics but all the ones i had on my computer have dissapeared.
