Zex 59300 or Crower stage 2 Turbo cam?
Zex 59300 or Crower stage 2 Turbo cam?
Hi i'm planning on upgrading my cam for my d16y8 which i eventually do plan on turboing, and i'm kinda stuck on which cam would be better to run in it. I've heard that the Crower cam has more bottom end power but there are a lot more reviews on the Zex cam but it seems that you have to advance the timing 5 degrees to run it in the y8 head. How much more difficult is it to run that cam than the Crower turbo cam. how are the idles different from each other and the top end. if anyone can help give me some advice or throw some opinions at me or personal experience with either of them, that would be awesome.

well the zex cam appearantly is the same cam as the comp 59300, but i plan on running the hondata s300. what i was thinking is because the crower cam is for the y8 but the comp/zex is for the z6 it seems like it would be less of a pain to tune and run.

You can run the zex cam, you just need to use a z6 cam gear advanced 4.75 degrees. I've heard of people having no problem at all going that route, while other people found getting the timing right a bit difficult. I'd probably go Zex and just keep a timing gun handy..
