+1 for tokicos, mine are going over 5yrs on eibach springs and they still good. the tokicos can handle upto 1.5-1.7 inch drop.

The best?
Bilstein, Koni Yellow inserts or tokico d-specs.
The ones that will suit your needs and budget best?
Tokico hp, no competition, they are the hands down best.

Re: what type of struts should i buy if my 04 lx is lowered?
i have prokit and tokicos with stock rims and tires with roughly 2 finger gap (like 1.5 inch) between fender and wheel. ride is stiffer than stock, but tolerable. i would never go lower and even now i still tend to scrape up my aftermarket exhaust. im going back to stock tho when i can afford it cause this pipe sits way too low. other than that i only scraped my front bumper with lip kit one time on a steep driveway. when these tokicos go bad, which they dont seem like it anytime soon, i will throw on a new set. i could never go back to oem, its way too bouncy and makes me sick when the car keeps moving up and down over every little bump. ive taken these tokicos over some very rough roads, big potholes, even dirt and rocks with the car shaking like crazy and completely loaded with 500+lbs of stuff in the car for 2k miles and never had any issues. they are still at the same height when installed and when you do the bounce test by pushing down hard on the rear, it bounces right back up the first time and stops.
actually i just looked thru some old records and my tokicos are only 4 yrs old. still darn good for a lowered car that i expected would only last couple yrs.

Spring wise, I use H&R because unlike other lowering springs they drop the car so it sits level. If you have your heart set on eibachs, then you need to decide whats more important to you.
Using prokit springs you are at the ideal height for handling and a good functional height, speed bumps won't be your arch nemesis, and the spring rate is fairly low so the ride will still be comfortable.
With sportline springs you drop lower, you won't like speed bumps with these and if you have a front lip it will become your personal mission to rid the earth of them. The spring rate is much higher on sportlines, so the ride will be harsher but if performance is your main concern these are the option you want.

Re: what type of struts should i buy if my 04 lx is lowered?
my case, daily commuter to school and back. want a great look with nice ride. if i were to go with eibach i would def do sportlines (since i want a nice drop hehe
). I have no lip kit and dont plan to get one ever. since u have mentioned bilsteins, i will go with those bc my buddy (who will do the work for me, is a mechanic) recommends doing kyb or bilsteins, he doesnt like tokico. but obviously i am seeing the opposite on our forum.
funny you mentioned H&R bc an acquaintance recommended H&R with spec-D! so im seeing H&R / Sportlines are comparable and dont matter which you go with, so its just a matter of shocks at this point. would go with eibach bc have years of great rep. Budget is 600.
Thanks alot for both of you for your help! this is really helpful in making my decision! (sorry for the long book lol)

Re: what type of struts should i buy if my 04 lx is lowered?
I'm a suspension *****, I have spent countless wasted hours reading about different set-ups and talking to people at meets and I have never heard of someone using tokcio hps on a proper set-up being unhappy. The only person not happy with tokico hp are people who slam 2+ inches and blow them out.
If your budget is $600 you can afford tokico hp and lowering springs. KYB AGX are roughly $550, Bilstein are $1000, and D-spec $800 i think without lowering springs.

BTW, I would use THMotorsports.com, they have the Tokico HP and the Eibach springs for cheaper. I ordered the rear Tokico and they were delivered in a little less than a week. You'll save money - everything is less expensive there and the shipping is still free.

@sdaidoji, I can't thank you enough. I've actually decided to go with the 1" drop (Eibach Pro-Kit) for now. I figure it gives me a bit more leeway - I'm a heavy guy and the I-10 is a vicious ***** of a freeway. If I decide to go with 17" wheels in the future - I'll go for the 1.4" Eibach Sportline. 17" sounds so much better in terms of function - but I can't help it I like the way the 18"s look :P
