Stolen Honda Civic 38000 Miles (Any idea what it would be worth)
Hey guys, my 2000 honda civic hatchback dx was stolen from me last friday. I'm sure its being chopped up if not already completely destroyed by now. But i was wondering how much it would be worth, the insurance company is telling me to go look for what my car is selling for on used car sites but i can't find it on any.
Mileage ~38000
Addons to car - 4 JL audio speakers, 10" sub, 2 amps, pioneer deck.
The car had no damage internal or external, never any accidents, kept up to date on all oil changes and maintenance. When i inherited the car from my grandfather about 1 year ago the mechanic i took it to said it was in mint condition so i'm sad to see it's gone. If anyone has any idea what this would be worth any guesses would help.
Oh also the car was an automatic.
Thanks!
-Chris

38K original, unmolested in mint condition- I'd say around $5000
I'd pay 5 for it except it looks like it has a fat *** to me. lol. I like the 5th gen hatches better, much sleeker.

The Si is valuable, the DX is not. I'd say 2k, maybe as high as 4k if your lucky.
Search your local craigslist and you should get an idea of what you can expect.

these hondas in good shape are going way up in value with how expensive gas prices are right now. there is a car place near my house where a guy just sold a 99 civic lx with 180k on it and beat to hell like rust and dents in every spot imaginable for 2000. and the inside was horrid too i offered the guy 600 for it before i knew what he was actually asking and i was amazed to go back a week later and see he actually sold it!!

Ragged out looking, and I mean RAGGED, hatches with a B series swap are going for $2000-3000 around here. While the nice looking ones with the swap are going for $6000-8000. You can't hardly find an unmolested one here. I expect those prices to skyrocket in the near future tho, it's $3.48 a gallon here.

Sorry to hear the news, thats gotta suck. But asianboy781 is most likely correct...Though you may get a wider latitude since it was stolen and not wrecked...
My advice? Start, and stay high in the price range. Hold your ground and dont let em (insurance company) haggle you down too much. Insurance settlement negotiation's an art. Good luck.
