1993 Honda Civic DX Couple of Questions

Hey guys i just purchased a car From Craigslist and im hoping i joined the right forums for some very usable knowledgeable information.

Year: 1993
Model : Honda
Model: DX
Mileage 183,000
Transmission: Automatic

Here are my questions

Knowing that DX's Models dont come with A RPM Tach Gauge if i get a Tach Gauge from 1993-1995 Honda EX is it plug and play?

looks like i could get my hands on one that comes off a 1994 Honda Civic EX.. the extra one i have has 224,XXX miles and the one i have (currently in vehicle now STOCK) has 183,XXX how do i go about changing this to the correct mileage ?

Second question what type of motor does my Civic has i've done lots of research but its all gibberish for me d16,d18 ? and transmission.

Im not looking to modify this civic i bought it for gas mileage since gas prices are going up my v8 is getting very expensive.. what are the mods i could do do to get the best mileage for this car ?

thanks in advance

Re: 1993 Honda Civic DX Couple of Questions

1. don't know, should be.
2. find the speedo guy or the Honda guy in your area. It's about $300 at the dealer.
3. if it's stock it's a D15. stand in front of the car and look at the block between the. it should be stamped somewhere around here:

4. for better mpg you can change all the filters, change oil regularly; and clean the IACV, throttlebody, EGR, and PCV once a year. wouldn't hurt to put fuel system cleaner in every couple of tanks.

Yes the cluster will work for you and it is plug and play. To change the mileage, just unscrew the whole speedo gauge from your cluster and put in the in the new one. They are the same size.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic DX Couple of Questions

I have a DX model. It appears to be very stock but I didn't buy it new. Mine is a 94 though so maybe they added them for the next year, or maybe it was an added option. But I guess I was meaning to say I would have thought the wire to be there already. Honda seems pretty good about pre-wiring most things.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic DX Couple of Questions

The only real difference is the gear lights. The auto has the gear setting lights on the fuel/temp side. As long as you don't care about that everything else should be the same.
