Pilot bearing? Or wishfull thinking.
Pilot bearing? Or wishfull thinking.
I just traded one of my PRS singlecuts for my first Honda! I picked up a rather ragged 94 sedan with a string of receipts and such for work on the 1.5 motor. I will say that any facts I lay out in this are coming from a former Nissan fellow soo...ignore my stupidity.
I believe the 1.5 is a vtech as there is a vtech head in the trunk lol she blew a gasket and put a non vtech head on rather than have a machine shop give her the glance over....so that being said I believe it has the vtech ecu...on a non vtech motor...first question. Would that cause a 100-150 RPM per second surge?
now the surge I can live with but I do have a major issue with the tranny I believe. When I am cruising in any gear 4th 5th etc...if I let of the gas any at all *even at 65 MPH* the car lurches badly. Almost like when you first learn to drive a 5spd taking off from 1st gear?? with the accelerator depressed it drives fine...but obviously...speed limits and such prohibit such behavior. I went through the car to find clues as to the problem and I found and unopened Pilot bearing in the backseat leading me to believe that wasn't replaced... Would that cause this type of behavior? Like it is near imposible to drive and I cant afford to take it to a shop right now *note the trading of an amazing guitar for a primered bumper-less FOUR DOOR civic* I feel like a pilot bearing causing this would be to good to be true. What would cause the car to run like this? Could this also be caused by the vtech ECU?
I am pulling teeth over this, thank you so much for any input!
