Vacuum leak check with water?

I heard from some guy at pepboys that you can check for a vacuum leak with water instead of carb cleaner. I would definitely rather do it with that because I read that the carb cleaner could become flameable and toast the car. Trying to see if it is true that you can check with water and if someone can post a pic or link me to somewhere showing where I would spray the water or carb cleaner to check for leaks.

I wouldnt use water, you could hydrolock the engine if you use too much... Carb cleaner is desgined for that specific area of the engine why not use it? Spray the joints around the throttle body, if you notice RPM changes when you spray a certain area you have found your leak.
