Question 195/50/R15 vs 205/5/R16

What's the difference...would the 16's be a lower profile tire? Can anyone explain this whole deal to me? Thanks in advance.

Re: 195/50/R15 vs 205/5/R16

the first number is the treadwidth of the tire in mm (195 means the tire is 195 mm wide)

The second number is the sidewall height, as a ratio compared to the treadwidth (50 means the sidewall is 50% of the treadwidth, or 97.5mm)

the last number is the inner diameter of the tire, really it's what size rim it'll fit on (r15 is a 15" rim)

When I shop for tires, I try and choose the same overall diameter, so it doesn't mess with my speedometer as much.

and I use this tool to figure out what size that would be
