BELIEVE IT OR NOT : I FINALLY GOT MY CAR!

And I love the way it looks. There were other cars that felt better, other cars that performed better, but all around, Civic was the best. Resale wise, reliability wise, mpg wise, safety wise, price wise.. everything!
It's shining at the parking lot right now. I love the thing.
Glad to join you guys!

Another proud new owner of a Civic.
kenji: Weren't you the one deciding on the Civic or Protege 5? What made you go with the Civic instead of the Protege5? From what I hear, the Protege5's handling and suspension blows away our Civic's.

Cool, now you have a reliable, quality built car! Now just dont go and put intake, exhaust, drop it with rims, and through on a wing and sport around town thinkin you have a fast machine. EVERYBODY in my town does that and its just funny, make it look fast, but cant back it up. Please dont become a ricer, if you want to do mods, start with the engine, not body.

Congrats man, and welcome to the site.

congrats on ur new car!
I think I can field the one about the Protege5. That car has a pretty good engine, GREAT shifter, nice suspension, but Mazda really cut costs on the interior and the sound system. Come on, 4 speakers? And what's the deal with all the cheap plastic? ABS as an option!? My friend got one with sunroof, side SRS, ABS and free lifetime oil changes for $18600, which is pretty much the dealer invoice. However, that's because Sysco (what his dad works for-and it's the spoon/paper plate company, not the routers/switches company) has a deal with Ford Motor Co.

Yea that was me.
Let me first start by saying, it was REALLY TOUGH deciding between Protege5 and Civic EX
After knocking off Jetta, Golf, Sentra, Corolla, Camry, Altima, Protege, Lancer off my list, I had
Protege 5 VS CIvic EX
Protege5 looks sharp and it was original while Civic had a stronger reliability and resale value and still looked good.
Cons for Protege5 - everyone complaining about rattling that makes everyone turn and Mazda not doing anything about it almost over a year and dealers trying to act like they don't know anything about it, bugged me. What kind of service will I get when there is an actual problem.. I don't know. People complaining about the emblem and paint is starting to chip... and it's been less then 1 year?
Cons for Civic - Yes, too many of them out on the road which matters a lot for some of us. I also felt Civic had a little rougher ride than the Protege5.
Why I chose Civic after 5 months or so...
-the cons of Protege5
-the consumer reports on the Civic was just better.
-the price is good for everything there. I wanted moonroof, ABS brakes, and it was all there on the Civic EX
-the price the guys offered was $600 below invoice, just made me want to get it more
-Honda reliability / resale value
-The Civic I can go fix it up if I want, I can become economical look if I want
-When there are problems, from what I heard, it's cheaper to fix then many other foreign cars.
-Honda just made my dad (the man with the money) a happier man.
-Civic scored REALLY WELL in safety.
-Personally, it looks nice!
For a guy that didn't care to have engine power or super sporty looks, but still look young.. I believe this is the best buy.

So I guess all the issues we have in our Vehicle Issues/Problems forum didn't scare you, huh?
I do have to say though, that my Honda dealer has been very cooperative in handling my warranty issues. They have never said "we can't recreate this problem", or, "it's normal... all the Civics do that". So even though I have problems with my Civic, at least the warranty service has been good.
And ya, I have heard that Mazda's parts are the most expensive out of the big 4 Japanese manufacturers.
Nice choice and really shinny color! Just be careful with it, a lot of bad guys out there that love to dent new car. I got at least 3 dents parking the car at school in the first 2 months.
