I dont tend to sound so mean but ...........Does it really matter? I take it you already have your car now so its too late, but if you are interested then check out some of the sites like Car and Driver or something they usually do that stuff. I dont think we know the numbers for that stuff.

define beat? I doubt you could beat a protege 5 given the driver was ACTUALLY racing and was experienced. He probably didn't feel like wasting gas on a 2k1 ex coupe. Protoge 5 has more HP, and more torque.

Rep Power: 351 he has and auto and i have an auto. even though he has more hp that doesnt mean he will win. a mac truck has more hp and torque but since it weights a millon pounds it wont beat us. its all in the weight.

Rep Power: 351 im not deinying that most cars are faster stock. i am just saying that i did beat him but not by much. if u look at the times for 0-60 the protege 5 does it in 9.5 where as a civic ex does it in 8.5. those times where both for manuel trans.

Rep Power: 0 Just because a car has more hp and torque doesn't mean it is faster. It could lose more hp through the drivetrain than the vic does, weigh more, not have a good tranny, etc....Personally, I think an ex coupe/sedan with an mt would take it with a good driver.
I've beaten a protege5 manual w/ my EX coupe. Not too badly, but enough to notice. They have about 3 more hp and 15 more lb/ft of torque. However, they weigh quite a bit more, and they have taller gears.
