When do u change ur oil?
my 2k2 civic si/ex coupe is about 4 1/2 months old now, 10,000km. my dad did an oil change at 2000km, thought it was good, dealer said u f***ed up cuz there is a special blend that needs to be in there for 8,000km or 4months. probably why i'm getting 28mpg pretty much granny driving to me, 2500-3000rpm shifts on auto. well the manual says change every 8,000km. don't u think that is quite extreme? motor oil for the lazy already says change every 5000km. when do u change urs?

I go every 3,000 despite what the manual and the dealer says. . The way I figure is they want you to buy a new car in a few years. . So they'll tell you every 5. Screw that. . When I change it every 3 it's pretty dirty. . I don't think it's wise to let it go .. It's easy to remember too. . Everytime you mileage is divisable by 3000 change it. . So you change. .. 3000, 6000, 9000, 12000, 15,000 etc.. . I'm at 14,500 right now. . I'm going to buy the stuff and change it this weekend. . Will probalby be a little early, but I don't care...

Every 3K, like pheaton says its eaasy to remember that way.
The same specail blend that comes from the factory is the same special blend you buy off the shelf. Buy an oil sample kit from like AutoZone - do a sample from the first oil change, then wait a couple and do it again. Same results!! - I did that with my 99 and the results were identical; no extra nothing (1000 mile sample and 9000 sample)

I have the Sure Drain. The size is SD-2. I put it on my sister's civic. Won't know if it's worth it till I change her oil again at 15,000miles. Oh yeah, go by the manual PrYnCeQT.
Every 3000 kilometers . Did first change at 3800 kilometers . Dealershaip had no problem with that . Car runs excellent and mileage is mid to high 30's. Your mileage will improve in time .

ummm...how much time does it need. i'm nearly at 10,000km, that's quite a lot for 4 months of driving.

is that suppose to be an insult??? here's mines. GO TO SCHOOL! i have a manual, it says 8000KM KM KM KM KM, which is 5000 miles. here's the math. 8000 divided by 1.6 (which is the conversion rate of km to miles if u didn't know) and that would equal 5000.
dunno why but everything is on my nerves today, don't take it seriously.
I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and change every 5,000 miles. When I stopped off at Honda last week the guy told me that Honda claims that these motors can go for 10,000 miles between oil changes. But I'd NEVER do that to my car, even though Honda thinks it's possible. (when the guy at honda told me that it's suppose to be able to go for 10,000 miles, I looked at him like he was crazy)
