Did you lube the bolts that the caliper slides on? If they look like this buy new pads and lube those bolts with silicon grease.

Re: New Rotors and Pads! HELP!

I don't think anti-squeal (goes BEHIND the pad) or anti-seize (goes on the caliper bolts) comes in a spray. Anti-squeal comes in a little packet about the size of a ketchup packet and you usually get ant-seize in a tube. Just ask the guy at the parts counter, he'll know what you need. Take the pads off and if they look like the pic above then throw them away and get new ones and buy both ant-squeal and anti-seize. If they look good just buy anti-squeal. I know anti-seize is silicon grease, can't remember what the other is, sorry.

The clip actually holds the pads in place

Make sure those clips arent touching the rotor,
i know thats the main reason of squeal on my friend's integra
we had to bend the clips back a little

Also, bed your brakes, bed, not bleed

@lazlong
Too much effort :P

Re: New Rotors and Pads! HELP!

Your car didn't come with rear disk brakes. Someone did a conversion. I'm gonna assume they came from an Integra. Take a look at #13 an #48 in the link and tell me if that's what your talkin about. If it is then yes it's a shim.

Yes that's like a bracket to give the piston something to press on besides directly pressing on the brake pad. But ally of times when putting new rotors and pads on or even just new pads they will squeak for a day before they are broken in. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's been a few days and it's still doing it

yeah no problem but you can go to autozone or another car parts store and get the clips and they're cheap too

Are you talking about the chirpers? Chirpers are a little metal piece that comes off of one side of the pads and bends down towards the rotor. Chirpers are there to make noise when your pads need to be replaced (soon). I think your friend needs new pads. Wear indicators in this pic...

no. the very thin sheet of metal that the piston of the caliper touches on the break pad. very thin and very malleable. usually has the brand name on it.

I was actually directing that towards kenny, that's why I quoted him.

But just to clarify, you are talking about the shim in the illustration, correct?
