summer tires ok for winter?
I TRIED THE SEARCH!!
I know this sounds like a stupid question - i mean they arent called summer tires for nothing.
Anyway - i just got a set of Z rated Kumho ECSTA 712. They are not rated M+S and are therefor not all-season tires. Which by deduction means they are summer tires. I wanted to keep them on all year and get rid of my stock tires (i got no where to put them) - but i am worried about winter ice / snow in NYC / LI area.
How bad are Kumho 712's in snow / ice? Am i gonna get into an accident and wreck my car?

- you don't need to search, you should know this question yourself.
- you will have driving problems b/c those tires wont' get any grip snow or ice.
- just hope it doesn't snow or ice plus you have 6 months to worry this topic.
- why didn't you get better tires like bridgestone/dunlop/michelin/toyo/yokohama. they have M+S tires that look great.

yea - it was a mistake on my part. I was looking at the Falken ZE-502 which is all-season. But right next to it was the Kumho and it was little cheaper and the treads were mad nice. I momentarily forgot about "all-season" and i ordered em. Now its too late - they already mounted and shipped and its half way to my door.

hello? no OEM tires . No OEM.
OEM (15") tires sucko.
I want 17". I have 17" - but i need tires for my 17" that are snow worthy so that I don't have to keep changing wheels every season back and forth from OEM to 17" and back again.
ok so i bought the wrong tires. Im gonna have to live with them until they wear out and then buy 17" all-season Falkens. Until then I just dont drive in the snow.
