salvage tranny advice
salvage tranny advice
My boy cracked the case of the auto tranny on his '93 w/ 1.5L engine. I'll be headed to the pick-n-pull tomorrow to find one salvage. Any advice on what to look for? Also, is there any good maintenance I can do, other than draining and re-filling the torque converter than I should consider while I have it apart? I'm thinking maybe some seals, maybe engine main and similar on the tranny.
Re: salvage tranny advice
Finished the swap over the weekend. I got the transmission from Pick-n-pull. Pulled it out of a coupe of same year model, 93. I changed out every seal, used the torque converter that I already had since I knew it works right. I got an almost brand new starter out of the deal. The fluid in the old tranny was still red so that's good. So far works perfectly. No leaks. Here's hoping for many many happy miles.
Now, what to do with the old tranny. Not even good for a core since it's got that crack in it. All I can figure is recycler.
