Re: Oil on my Spark Plugs

That is true, the valve cover gasket and spark plug O-rings need replacement. But i don't think it is casue to make your car die while driving. Is the check engine light on? If yes, have your car scan for codes. If not, try checking the ignition switch, it is a common problem with honda cars.

no engine light is on, and only 2 of the 4 spark plugs has oil on them. a friend told me it was just because of the o rings.

Re: Oil on my Spark Plugs

i take it the oil is on the ceramic portion of the plug that doesnt go in the cylinder, yea it is the o rings for the valve cover if thats the case, your car may be running rough because of the problem, especialy if your plug wires are old, oil deteriorates the rubber

Re: Oil on my Spark Plugs

It could be a couple of things.

You could have alot of blowby coming from the cylinders which means your rings are worn. The only way to check for this is by doing a compression or leak down test.

Your valve guides and/or valves seals are worn and leak oil in the compression chamber.

These are the only two way oil can get in the combustion chamber.

Hold on you didn't mention which part of the plugs as zzcivic said????

Re: Oil on my Spark Plugs

ok, there are 2 portions of the plug, the part that sticks into the cyl (the elctrode and ground tab) and the ceramic portion that the plug wire attatches to, if the part that thae wire attatches to, and the threads have oil on it the valve cover gasket "O" rings need to be replaced, if u have oil on the electrode part, the problem is much worse, it is either valve guide seals, the valveguides themselves, or the rings
