new headlights, recommendations
before you all crucify me, yes i searched. I need a brighter bulb than the stock bulb for a 97 civic. the majority of "which bulb" always leads to a HID discussion. I CAN NOT AFFORD HID's! with that out of the way...
Philips xp seems to be a favorite on here. I cant find where to buy them. autozone/advance/etc doesnt carry them. Sylvania sylverstars seems to be their bread and butter in the light department.
Are they in the same ball park longevity & light quality wise? Where is a good place to buy phillips bulbs if they are the superior.
any other recommendations in the same price point?

Re: new headlights, recommendations
philips xp has been tested by autoexpress as the brightest halogen bulb available in a legal 55w design. www.powerbulbs.com from europe and i believe aidauto.com also has em if you search. most auto store coated bulbs are pure garbage. the philips xp is noticably whiter and brighter than stock, while having the same rated lifespan. no other bulb can do that, and the bulb does not have a blue coating. your car uses H4 i believe for the headlights.
