not getting gas...surging

So when Im driving my 1991 Honda Civic every so often I push the gas but the car doesn't really accelerate. I'll press harder and suddenly the car WILL get gas and it surges ahead quickly.

Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the problem? I'm not getting any error codes from the ECU.

Thanks!

sounds like injectors are clogged up and a surge of fuel is pushing thru eventually when you press the gas hard enough. may also be your fuel pressure is low due to dying fuel pump. check the pressure, if its fine then look to the injectors. start using lubecontrol fp-plus gas additive.

ok, Im gonna try some of this fuel injector cleaner I hear about.
Is that what the lubecontrol stuff you suggested is?

How much and how often do you recommend? I know the bottle will tell me to use as much as they want me to spend, lol

Re: not getting gas...surging

yeah you can get it from lubecontrol.com, i suggest the 1 gallon jug cause you get the most for your money. get two measuring bottles too one for each additive. for the gas additive fp-plus, you use 1 oz per 10 gallons of gas every time you fill up. for oil lc20 additive you add 3-4 oz when you first change the oil, then 1 oz every 1k miles til you change the oil again. that will make the oil last for 10k miles.

Re: not getting gas...surging

it will, may take a couple months to fully clean out the system, but even with my car being in excellent condition, i still felt a difference and got 4mpg better mileage on the highway. and now my oil is 6 months old and doesnt look black like it used to.
