Gas cap and Check Engine Light
I just realized that for the last week my check engine light has been on and I didnt even know it. I opened up my gas lid and there was no gas cap in there. I know for the civics it would come on if you didnt have it either on at all or on tight enough, but would that be the same for my celica also? Thanks.

Yeah, most new cars have that "safety" feature on them. My mom had that same problem with her camry. The check engine light came on, and when she brought it to the dealer the first thing they checked was to see if the gas cap was tightened enough. They turned it a few clicks, then started it up and the light went off!! lol I'm sure they have the same thing with the celicas.....especially if you don't have a cap at all!!
we can put a man on the moon, make exact copies of living beings, yet every f*cking car has this stupid "CHECK ENGINE" light that comes on when one of 5000 things -- not necessarily ENGINE related -- goes wrong.
heh. same thing happened to me shortly after i got the car. i pulled in to a parking lot to figure out what the hell was going on, and i noticed i didn't even have the gas door shut! i wasn't paying attention at the gas station at all, i guess. anyway, since that light was bothering me i decided to teach US car makers to start making fuel doors that LOCK and swiped the cap out of the pontiac next to me.
this happened less than a month after i got the car... and now, 8000 miles later, i still have that damn thing in there
