Newbie on site-first question about leak
Hi Everyone,
I have recently aquired my Dad's old 1996 Honda DX. So far I've done a little basic maintenance such as plug change, air filter, rotor, and ATF change.
I just was changing a flat tire the other day and noticed a leak underneath the vehicle, just forward of the trunk/gas tank area. In fact it appears to be oil and has dripped and absorbed into an area I believe to be the front part of the gas tank.
Does anyone know what this could possibly be? I hope it is an easy fix, as I'm out of work right now. I'd sure appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!
Brent

Re: Newbie on site-first question about leak
thats also what i was thinking. what side is the leak on? or is it in the center?
your exhaust runs down the passenger side for the most part, is it in front of the gas tank on that side? it could be water dripping from either an exhaust pipe with a hole on it, or between the exhaust pipe and the muffler. first thing i would do is try to inspect around.
looks can be deceiving. if its falling right on the floor, anything can look like oil...including water. if you find where the leak is coming from, get a clean piece of something, maybe even a plastic container and put it under so you get an idea of what exactly is leaking.
