2000 ex swap - Help

I just got a 2000 civic ex.... its vtec... but this is my first honda, i have no idea where to start.i want to completely redo the whole car. i have alot of miles on it so i was thinking about doing a engine swap first. can someone help with what type of engine to swap it with. i want something not too expensive but i want a fast engine.... please help

you're going to have to spend some money on an engine... you could get what you already have (D16Y8) but newer for cheap... most people go with a B-series, the 2000 Civic Si had a B16A, which would bolt right into your car and would be easy to find and not TOO expensive... B18C from an Integra would be a great choice, or even a K20 if you want to get really fancy... you could get a B18B (non-vtec from an Integra LS) for a lot cheaper but it won't put out as much power... I haven't swapped my engine so I'm not the best to talk to, but it comes down to getting what you pay for really

what would be a good vtec engine that would just bolt on
