Dealer told me 205/55r16???
Dealer told me 205/55r16???
Just ordered new rims and tires for my 04 Civic EX Coupe. I just figured the dealer knew what they are doing, but after reading a bunch of threads it seems 55 series tires are going to look too big. I live in AK and these are just going to be summer rims/tires and I dont plan on lowering it. Should I call back and try for a smaller size, and does anyone have pics of 55 series on there 16's? Thanks
Dave

55's IMO are way too big..i was riding 205/45/15 which i think is the perfect size..not too big and not small..and little but no rode noise..
Heres a pic of the Si's i used to have 205/45/15

Yeah, I would also recommend 205/50/16. That's what I'm running...50s give a perfect sidewall. I find 45s look a bit too small on our cars, and also throw your speedo off even more than a 50 series which is already smaller than stock. If you're not lowering, maybe even go to a 215/50/16 which is an EXACT match to the stock outer diameter of the tire. Might help fill up some of that wheel gap too. Here are my 205/50/16s:

Well I called 5 tire stores in town yesterday and only one had a 50 series in stock (it was a crap tire). All told me that 55 series is closest to stock and all recommended it. If I want a 50 I need to special order it. Anyone else have problems getting 50 series?

Hmm, I don't know where you are located, but 205/50/16 is a very common tire size. Maybe order online?
Honestly, try to go 215/50/16...when my car was not lowered and I ran the 205/50/16, it looked a bit ridiculous...as in, HUGE wheel gap. This particular size is harder to find, however.

if you get 205/45/16 (like my car, ur speedo will be about 2-4miles faster than ur actual speed.
205/45/16r

Your dropped though and it looks good on your car. Made a call again today and she said they could get me firehawk gt in that size--reviews are bad compared to the potenze re960as tires I had ordered, so Im sticking with the 55 series and calling it a day!
