Reardeck Spioler

Re:2009 ----------Sorry if this has been asked before!

Is the spoiler of any aerodynamic value, or just cosmetic?

Thanks!

Dave

Re: Reardeck Spioler

On a fwd vehicle its really just cosmetic. Really unless your pushing some serious power would u need it for anything else

Re: Reardeck Spioler

^what he said

but a functional spoiler does help though, because with our civics, there is so little weight in the back that it will help with cornering...ofcorse, im talking about on a track

but spoolers like the OEM ones on our civics dont really do anything and are there just for looks

Re: Reardeck Spioler

all looks, if it was a RWD car then the spoiler, if designed correctly, would catch the wind when in motion, which would then apply pressure to the back of the car, to stick the whees to the ground so when they spin they move the car instead of just squeal

Re: Reardeck Spioler

Sometimes they're there to "reduce drag" by changing the profile of the rear end.
A long time ago someone did a study on FWD cars with spoilers and more or less came to the conclusion that they would do nothing until you were doing about 97 mph.... and from there on out, they "reduced lift" rather than created any downforce.
