98 Civic Ex Gas Guage Nd Brakes

Just Got An Auto 98 Civic Ex To Fool Around With

And Im Not Sure If This Is Normal For The 98's But

My Gas Gauge Fluctuates As I Drive When I Accelerate Its Goes Down

When I Brake It Goes Up And When The Car Is Off With No Key In The
Ignition

The Guage Doesnt Turn Off And Still Lets You Know How Much Gas The Car
Has In It

Second Thing

When I Drive At The Idling Speed And Use The Breaks The Car Makes A Slight

Crunching Metal On Metal Grabbing Kinda Noise It Doesnt Seem To Affect

Anything But Sounds Like Its Coming From The Brakes Im Sure It Cant Be A Good Noise

So Please Any Help Would Be Appreciated

Thanks
Geo

Re: 98 Civic Ex Gas Guage Nd Brakes

The gas guage fluctuating is not normal. Might be a ground problem or sending unit issue. Your gas guage should stay where it was when you turn off the ignition, that is normal.

Grinding that sounds like brakes usually means your brake pads are done...and you are grinding the backing plates into the rotor. Time to spend a little cash and get new rotors and pads.
