I'm new to the honda world, just traded my 00 durango to some1 for a 2002 civic dx 5spd, i love the car, but hate the fact that there is NO stock tach.

What would i need to do to install one of these aftermarket tachs i see at advanced auto, etc?

how about go on ebay and look for a 2001-2002 lx or ex cluster that has the tach. those will plug right in to the car without any modification. just remember the coupe and sedan have different backlight at night (sedan is green, coupe is red). and also the odometer changes to whats on the new cluster. just search ebay for '01 civic cluster' and see what pops up. if youre not sure if it will work or if its a coupe or sedan, post it here and i can tell you.

I didnt want to go that route to avoid the milage crisis. This car still only has 71k original, and id like to keep it on par.

But since posting this thread, ive learned how to use this site a bit, and found the answer i was looking for!! thanks a lot for the suggestion though!

well there's always finding one close to your mileage (a little over) and swapping it out when the time is right!

um its a little more than just switching the clucster, u still have to hook up the tach part to the engine speed, you may have tio run a couple wires

nope, tach wire is already there, at least on the 7thgens.
