Throw out bearing or input shaft bearing?
Throw out bearing or input shaft bearing?
First i thought it was my throwout bearing for sure then i read the sticky on the manual trans noises, and now im not 100% sure.
Im gonna do my best to describe the situation:
Im getting a "squeaking" noise from the clutch. With the engine off (and the car in either first or neutral, it doesnt matter the noise is exactly the same) i push the clutch to the floor and no noise yet, the second i start releasing the clutch for about 1/4 of the clutchs full travel i get the squeak.
so i had the gf press and release the clutch a bunch of times (again with the engine off) and listened with the hood open, no noise from the pedal, no noise from the slave cyl, no leaks at anywhere, fluid in the same place as usual, but def a noise from inside the trans.
also if this helps, ever since this prob stared (like a week ago) like prob 20% of the time 3rd gear doesnt go in on the first try.
any ideas?

Re: Throw out bearing or input shaft bearing?
its neither, how can it be a bearing if nothings moving? its your slave cylinder, its very common, replace it if u want, or u can take it apart and clean it, there is a tsb on it
Re: Throw out bearing or input shaft bearing?
WD-40. Take off the plastic cover below the dash closes to the petals. On the top left corner theres a input shaft into a cyclinder. Spray that with WD-40. If that doesnt work then i dont know. I have the same problem, the dealship told me to scray it everyso often. Not worth replacing.
Re: Throw out bearing or input shaft bearing?
I have found that my clutch squeaks on my 02 Civic DX in the winter or when it gets cold. It will still squeak in the warmer months until I put some white lithium grease in there. I push the clutch down to the floor with my hand, have a can of white lithium grease, with the straw on it. Put the straw into the master cylinder which is now open from pushing the clutch down. Spray, give a couple of seconds before you let the clutch up. Noise gone. I take off the bottom cover under neath the steering wheel to access the area easier.
