Transmission Has Problems Shifting From 2nd to 3rd

My transmission had problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and now it just shifts in 1st and 2nd and then it won't shift to second and about 1 minute it won't come out of 1st. and then I can feel it slipping i'm taking it to get it rebuilt this week I just wanna know what it is?

is the check engine light on? that sounds very weird almost like a TPS (throttle position sensor) on the throttle body is malfunctioning. esp since you say it is getting stuck in gears. also is your D light flashing on the gauge cluster? it may be mechanical but could also be a sensor or solenoid problem.
