94 civic speedo jumps than stops working....

94 civic speedo jumps than stops working.... my 94 civic ex when im driving my speedo will be working fine than jumps up and down than just stays at 0 for a little while and will just start working again, im not sure what this could be, any ideas?

It's easy to change it out yourself. Takes only like 10 minutes.
