Hey guys so my fiance's mom got a new car. So she gave her old car to her. Its a 1992 Nissan Axxess. I know I know... Its not the coolest car lol but whatever it gets her around. Anyways im in the middle of doing a tune up on it. This summer I wanted to do something about the rust. It has lots of rust patches all over the body. Doors rear hatch and underbody is starting to get bad too. I was thinking I would get a cheap undercoat on it but what can I do for the body? I dont really want it to look great or anything but I just wanted to cover up the rust. Was thinking of just throwing some matching spray paint over it. What do you guys think? Or is it not even worth it so put $ into it? We wont be keeping it that long... probably another 2 years at most.

If it's real bad then put a cheap undercoat on. Sand, clean the oils off of it, and prime the rusty spots or it'll get worse depending on where you live.

If it needs more than that then question the cost and value of the car. If that car gets you to work and you get paid 30K a year then that car is worth 30K to you but 1000 to others. You know what I mean? If you need to go further they make body repair kits now that do not require welding just a grinder and cutter. Get an autobody repair book from autozone - it's your best bet.

you gotta take off the rust or paint will just flake off. if its too far rusted, i wouldnt bother as the metal might just come apart when youre sanding.

Basically just typical wheel well rust and rome other spots. Not extremely heavy, i would say moderate.
