New Used Engine, Losing Water ?
New Used Engine, Losing Water ?
I am not much up on the Honda's I have done some auto to Manual Trans swaps on 2. But other than that not much experience working on them.
Car is a 2001 4 dor EX Manual..
Ok I will start from the begining.. the car is my GF's
2 months ago the timing belt broke on her, at around 50, her Dad's mechanic, replaced the belt. Car wouldnt barely Run ( Bent Valves ), 2 cylinders didnt really have compression..
So i told her We will just drop a used engine in. Found one in sacramento from a 2004 auto, with 4000 Miles..
Pulled the old broken one out, found that the engine mounts are done all 4 were seperating or seperated from the housing. Ordered new ones..
All said got the new engine in, wiring done. fluids in.. Pulled the ECU Fuse
cranked it for a couple minutes ( to build oil through the engine ) put the fuse back in, cranked like 2-3 times and fired, ran pretty good.
I let it come all the way up to temp, filling the radiator as it dropped.
turned it off, checked the oil and stuff, everything seemd good.
She took it on a 40 mile drive and it got hot on her, check the water level, and the water was way low, put more in got it home without the gauge going into the red or to high.
I check it out the Next day, first thing i checked was for water un the oil, thinking that the head gasket was no good. Nope oil was still fine and New looking. Looked around for leaks didnt see any..
So now im stuck not really sure what to check for next to Figure out where the Hell the Water is Going...
Help
Oh and Im Pretty sure from seaching around here that the input shaft on the tranny is shot. dont know if thats relevent or not..
Thanks in advance

Re: New Used Engine, Losing Water ?
Are you sure you got all the air bled out of the system? Also, check to see if anything leaks out under the car while it sits overnight. Could be a simple leak.
Re: New Used Engine, Losing Water ?
are u sure its leaking out? Park the car nose up fill the radiator up and let it sit overnight. I bet by the time u get back the level would drop again. Thinking that it has leaked, but in reality it was just an air pocket. Also make sure ur cap is holding pressure.
Re: New Used Engine, Losing Water ?
Yeah its going somewhere, because its not a small amount of water that i have to put back in, and ive had to do it for like 4 days now. Ive been trying to park it and see if anything is leaking, but its been raining for the last few days, but i will try te nose up thing, and ive looked at the hoses none appear damaged or cracked.. ill keep looking
