brake switch issue

brake switch issue
so the other day when i was driving, i pulled over to pick some one up. so when i hit the switch on the drivers door panel to unlock the door, it just doesn't work. so being as confused as i was, i tried to think of what it could be, but being to cold outside, i can't check.
so any ideas what it could be?

nope, its like the switch just disconnected?
its odd because the keyless still works. so does any one know if that switch is electric or mechanical?
