Dezod Turbo kit...
I just bought nokturnls turbo kit about two weeks ago and i was wondering if a .48 turbine and .63 housing were too big for the d17a1. Should i get a smaller t3/t4? about what rpm will i start to spool my turbo? I just bought the aem fic and i need base map for 5psi.. does anyone have one? i dont know too much about turbos so dont get mad because i know im a newb with boost! LOL

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
That's a good size for your motor. Good luck with the FIC it's a pile of ****. You should be fully spooled by 4-4.5K, and you'll start spooling before that.
Good luck on the install. I know I learned a lot when I installed my kit.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
Dam.. are you serious? is the fic really that bad?? i mean i was looking through old posts and stuff and dezod said that it was a really good piggyback..
Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
f/ic is fine. some people have had problems with it, but others (ahem me) love it and it runs just fine. I'm hitting full boost at about 3200 rpm, and it starts spooling around 2000. I'm only running 6.5 psi for now, so you should be right around there, but it won't be the same.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
It had a lot of potential since you can control fuel and timing with it (retard only, no advancement), plus it has the onboard MAP sensor which saves a little cash, but almost everyone I've seen run it has had nothing but problems. baron340 is the only one I know of who hasn't wanted to chuck it out the window after lighting it on fire.
PCS-XFC is a decent piggyback, no one I know of (including me) have had problems with it that weren't endemic to all piggybacks.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
It was never a problem with the tune, it was with the reliability of the unit itself. Folks would get it tuned, it would be "fine" then two weeks later the car would be running like **** for no reason, and was it was pinpointed to be the FIC.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
It sounds like the ecu learned what you were doing... so then the pcs xfc is the best piggyback? there is no problems with that?
i would get kpro but it cost way too much unless someone has one for sale for cheap! lol

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
u can get a kpro on clubrsx.com for 900 bucks ish .. yes its a lot but its worth it .. then hondana can jus send the modified cam gear ..
but back to the AEM FIC, as a member, who had it runing 5 psi and now fully built w/ kpro .. i had problems with it .. i mean i was boosted for 1 yr no problem . . but i would have boggings, like a misfire, i would go very lean for nooo reason sometimes, i mean in th e end of the day i was boosted for 1 yr and had no major problems .. but in the end of the day coming from my tune, the fic sucks lol its jus not reliable enough he said, for example i couldn't just go 4 grand and BOOM step on it full boost, i had to let the car go into boost, stupid **** like that u know? kpro is drive how ever the *** u wanna drive lol

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
Woah woah, you need a special camgear. The one hondata provided is modified to accomodate the K motor from spinning the opposite way from the d17. Now I've heard the hondata camgear is an AEM one but not sure how they modified it to make it work.
Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
I had mine tuned at LNS performance here in Knoxville. I dunno, maybe I just got lucky. If I was going back to buying a piggy, I'd probably get the PCS just because I've never heard anything bad about it. I'm glad I seem to be the lucky one with the F/IC but in all fairness, its getting swapped with the AEM EMS over christmas break. I am here to show that it can run correctly with no problems, but PCS seems to be much easier to get it to work right.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
for the price you selling it for sounds kind of iffy like something DONT work i mean $300 for fic and plug n play harness??? then you think rsx injectors are 410cc?? they are 310cc no wonder you got neg rep you dont know what you are talking about! i think you need to do your research.
Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
ouch man... sounds like some bad blood going on there but anyway. if it were me i'd take my chances with the f/ic. you've already bought it. do what you can to get it to work and if you absolutely can't get it to, then look at selling it and upgrading.
Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
well, sounds odd, but everyone has their own experiences
for example ive been running the supposed "**** box" by tsi since 4 months and thnk God it has been running fine, im not seeing any complaints that usually ppl wud hav

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
You wouldn't get a cel just from the piggyback, the question is too vague. Being turbo most likely you will get one for running catless but there are ways to fix that.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
Negative on cat cels with the PCS. You can simulate the secondary O2 sensor output with the PCS which means you don't have to run a cat. In fact, I just leave the secondary O2 sensor ziptied up in the bay and never throw a CEL with it.
That being said, you will get CELs with any piggyback unit simply because they aren't as effective as a full standalone. Most common one is a P0405 - Baro Sensor Code when it's cold and damp out. No biggie, just clear it and move on. Pick up an OBD-2 scanner off Ebay for $50 and leave it in your car.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
right now im running catless anyway so it wouldnt matter.. did that non fouler 02 thing but only with 1 nonfouler instead of two.. i tested out the fic i got.. it works ok everything is good.. but i think im going to have to sell it. i bought it off ebay so there is really no way to return it.
how i see it the only way im going to put this on my car is if i do it right. i dont like to deal with problems later. im just going to get the pcs xfc. so if anyone is selling one let me know... im going to look now in the 4sale section.

Re: Dezod Turbo kit...
just stick with the f/ic if you can. if you run into problems then worry about selling it. if it works, it works no problem. save up and upgrade to k-pro or ems. just my $.02
