Hondata k-pro
will 2002-2004 RSX Type S 6 speed (PRB-A0 - ECU) k-pro fit on a d17 or do I have to get it reflashed? it doesnt have the base map for d17.. but I think my tuner can start from scratch but the question is it the same software running from k20 and d17?
Re: Hondata k-pro
yeah i'm pretty sure it is, but you do need that modified cam gear if you don't already have one. as far as i understand it, k-pro is the same no matter what engine you run it on. i'm also pretty sure you can get the basemap for the d17 online. if you install the hondata software that runs it, it comes with a ton of basemaps, and the d17 map is one of them. don't start from scratch... thats just throwing money away.

Re: Hondata k-pro
there are jumper harnesses you can buy if you arent comfortable repinning. hybrid racing makes one...i dont think it is listed on their website but if you call them i believe they can make them. My jumper is a hybrid racing one and I have no issues with it
Re: Hondata k-pro
ok im saving my money for the kpro and im very confused as how to go about it. i cant use my stock ecu??? thats what the hondata site says!! so i have to buy ANOTHER ecu for an rsx just to get the kpro??? very confused
Re: Hondata k-pro
yes. the d17 kpro fits inside an rsx or ep3 ecu case. the connectors are the same as the d17 ecu, but the pinouts are different so you'll have to re-pin the connectors (not extremely difficult) or get a jumper harness as mentioned above.

Re: Hondata k-pro
you can't use the d17 ecu you can use the case with some modification for the usb port (you have to cut a hole out for it).
According to hondata the d17 board can not be rewritten same goes for the s2000 but the rsx/si ecu can be rewritten so you need the board out of the rsx ecu so basicly you need the rsx ecu hondata's website will tell you which ecu are compatible.
as far as repinning even thought the shop manual tells you how and some people say it is not that hard I have found it extremly difficult because you do run into some connectors that don't want to give up those damm pins. So I just went up the wire a couple of inches cut it and then soldered it to where it was supposed to go

Re: Hondata k-pro
Depending on the year of the car, there are a total of two wires that need to be switched... I haven't seen a company make a jumper harness for two wires, that wouldn't make any sense....
The only wiring you have to do is for the o2 sensor (if you want to run closed loop). To be perfectly honest, you can plug it in, make changes to the map and you don't have to do ANY wiring at all if you choose not to.
