Air/Fuel Meter message

Ok so here's what I got.

For a few short weeks now my car's engine light will come on and off. One day it might be on and then the next or 2 later it might be off. I noticed this when I try to accelerate quickly or down shift...my car will start to jerk and its like I have no power...I have to shift up again to gain my car back.

I took to advance to run code and it said something about the Air/Fuel Meter..Is that O2 sensor? I went ahead and bought/replaced spark plugs since they havent been replaced in a long time. That did not help.

I don't want to bring it into the dealership because I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them to run code ($84.95) and tell me what's wrong.

Re: Air/Fuel Meter message

I know I wish I had it. I will have to go back to Advance Auto Parts and have them run it again. I will post back hopefully in the next day or 2.

Re: Air/Fuel Meter message - FIXED!

Ok so i decided to bring car into the shop. Basically the code was P1259 (VTec failure). They said NO oil showed on the dipstick. This is some sort of "Safe Mode". My oil light was never on and car never ran hot. My CEL was on for weeks. I could cruise around town but anything over 4000 RPM car would just rev up...hence no VTec. Had them check out some things and also do an oil change/oil filter change. I also changed my spark plugs. All is good.

Re: Air/Fuel Meter message

I would think that no oil on the dipstick would be far from a safe mode! And the 02 sensor is more of an air meter rather than an air/fuel meter. A bad vtec solenoid would most def cause your car to run as described with no power, but then again isnt 100hp no power anyway? j/k I drive one too! If your oil was really that low, you might want to check it soon now that you've had it changed just to make sure you arent losing oil due to something like wall scoring from when it may have ran low.
