1991 civic suspension/brakes/fuel problems
1991 civic suspension/brakes/fuel problems
I have a 1991 4 door civic DX auto. nothing special, just a good reliable daily driver with a newly rebuilt engine.
the problems:
SUSPENSION, i think i need new struts all around, and have a little rattle in the front end, not sure if it's a ball joint or tie rod end. Never worked on civic suspension. did lots of work on nissan silvia, replaced all suspension and brakes ect... but this setup is a little different. So, anything special i need to know, problems i might run into with these? do i need any special tools like a pickle fork to take apart and re-assemble this?
BRAKES, Rear drums have one cylinder with a leaky seal, anything i need to know to replace that? do i need to disassemble all the springs holding the shoes together? any special tools?
FUEL, Now, i think this problem is a fuel injector. the car isn't getting super mileage like it used too. not bad, but not the best. about 350KM's per tank in city. not horrible, but when new, they did better, and it does have a fully rebuilt engine. and the RPM slightly surge when holding at any RPM. like at idle or holding throttle up at 2,000RPM, the engine will slightly, barely noticeable, surge up and down like 100RPM. and doesn't run quite as smooth as it once did, again not bad but not great. Already replaced O2 sensor, plugs/wire/cap/rotor/coil, cleaned throttle body, new oil, everything i could think of. So now i wonder if it's an injector. this engine uses a throttle body injector setup with one "primary" injector and one "secondary" for use under load and high RPM. My theory is the primary is not doing it's job properly and the secondary is kicking in to compensate, however it is designed for larger quantities and keeps putting too much fuel in, so the engine is going: rich, lean, rich, lean, over and over very quickly giving me that slight surge. But i don't know how to find out for sure.
Well, that's a ton of info, so if you actually read through it and have some experience or knowledge that could help me, it would be greatly appreciated!!
also: If you have any recommendations for where i can find these parts for good prices, or a place that can diagnose and rebuild injectors, please advise.
THANKS
