2001 Civic Ex transmission question
2001 Civic Ex transmission question
Hey guys I am thinking about buying a 2001 civic ex coupe from my friend because he got a 2007 civic si. I have heard all about the problems that people have had for the transmissions on 01 civics. The car is in excellent shape and has 101xxx miles on it. The transmission on it is being replaced with a completely new one. But my question is even though he is going to give me a good deal on the car should, would I be a fool to buy the car? Are the new transmission fixed from the defect that the old ones had? Or how long would it be before i would have that same problem again? Thanks in advance for opinion!!!

Re: 2001 Civic Ex transmission question
yeah if the trans is getting replaced, buy it. thats the main problem on 01-02 is trans failing. now did they put in another honda tranny or something different? cause then it will have the same problem later if you put the same 01-02 tranny back in.

I heard that they put a 2005 tranny on it. Are they compatible? Well this weekend im going to check out the car and hopefully I'll own my first civic. Ill post some pics if i buy the car.
