Coolant Help
Coolant Help
Please help guys. I have an 05 civic and my radiator is transferring all of the coolant to the overflow tank. As a result the radiator empties and the overflow tank overflows and spews out of the top. Heater stopped working but Car does not overheat. I immediately took the care to the dealership and they flushed the system and rebleed it. They scanned the ecu and found no codes. Got home and the same problem occurred. What could it be???

Re: Coolant Help
Blown headgasket. Have them test the coolant for contaminants. They will probably find a carbon contaminant (exhaust) in the coolant. This happens a lot to us turbo guys. Basically you have a slight leak in the head gasket which causes the exhaust to leak into the coolant passages of the block, over-pressurizing the coolant system and causing it to blow back into the reservoir.
Drive the car at operating temperature for about 10 minutes with the reservoir almost full. Shut the car off and immediately go look and listen to the reservoir. It will probably be bubbling which is excess pressure being forced into the rezzy.
