Hit curb really hard, what is wrong with my suspension?
Hit curb really hard, what is wrong with my suspension?
Hey guys, my brother has a 2002 EX and looks like he might've fallen asleep a little at the wheel and hit a curb really hard. He had 04 EX alloys on and basically ripped the tire off. We put steelies back on for now but what could be messed up with it? Could an alignment fix this? Just want to know so if I bring it into a shop we don't get completely ripped off. Any help is appreciated!

lower control arm , strut, knuckle ....... make sure to have the alignment checked afterwards

Could just be lower control arm, but you run the risk of finding out that something else is bent too when you take it to the alignment shop. Make sure to get TORQUE specs for the bolts if you do it yourself, you don't want you suspension working itself apart. but with a good shop manual and tools the job is pretty doable.
I'm unusually bored.

Looks just like my car a month ago. I replaced the control arm and sway bar endlink, took it for an alignment and it's still got camber issues. I'm pretty pissed, because I thought I had it fixed, but no... I wish I would have claimed it with my insurance now. I've gotton told it could be the axle or even the frame. I'm still riding on steelies until I get it totally resolved.

In most cases you probably just bent the lower control arm. Depending how fast your brother hit the curb, several other components may have been damaged but first thing first, jack the car up and have a look around for anything that doesnt look right.
