I have a 2001 Civic EX auto tranny wondering if a 2003-2004 Civic EX AUTO tranny will fit. I have called a salvage yard from Massachusetts. I am from Texas the sales guy there says 2003-2004 Civic Ex Auto will not fit into an 2001 civic ex auto. Is that true? Ive done some research on this forum some people said it does but dont have any proofs it does. Can ya'll clarify if it works? Those guys up there in Massachusetts has one at a great price.

you might want to double check the part numbers on the 01-03 tranny with the 04-05 tranny and see if they match. I think they only upgraded one interior piece inside the tranny to help with the slipping that the 01-03 trannies were notorious for. The dimensions should be the same, since the dimensions of the 01-03 to 04-05 didnt change.

just talk to the service department at your honda dealership, but it should fit. I think there a couple of people that swapped in a 04 tranny into a 02 some where. Just search, there threads about it.

someone did a 04 swap into a 01-02 before. he also got a TCI overhaul kit for it. car was his girlfriends but it was done before.
