buying a car with a blown motor?

hey guys i was thinking about buying another 02 civic with a blown motor for 3grand and was wondering if there was a good place to buy just a good stock d17a2 for cheap, all i can seem to find is threads about swapping a kseries motor in which i dont want to do. im thinking that if i can find a low milage or even almost new d17 for like $500 and install it myself, i could have a low milage vic for around $4000. thoughts?

Re: buying a car with a blown motor?

I don't blame you for wanting to stick w/ the d17a2.. a lot of people say it's slow and it sucks blah blah blah .. not enough people praise the MILEAGE it gets as well as it's good reliability... I dunno, I like my d17

they're on eBay too FYI..

I wish I could find a car in good shape without a motor in it, that'd be freakin awesome for only 3k!

Sounds like something I may want to do soon, since I'm not into modding anymore.

would be a good deal if it was stock, too much crap you'd have to fix on that car to get it looking decent...

Yeah, 4k for a shell is a little much. I'd get a bike if I were going to pay that much.

Dont know what crap you are referring to. Back bumper is the main thing that needs body work. Other than that, its the motor thats ****ed. Wish I didnt put so much into the interior, oh well, to each its own.

You make a valid point. How much do stock shells go far, cause nothing is stock on the car.

Well, you're asking more because you're trying to recoup on money you've put into it, right? I know you probably don't want to deal with the headache but you'd prolly be better off putting it back to stock and parting it out. Hell, for about 3k, I'd probably buy it.

Re: buying a car with a blown motor?

I know what ya mean. But not really recoup, cuz if thats the case, Im no where near on getting back what I put in. Im no longer trying to get rid of it, I put in my cousins garage for now, I may part out some things and just wait til I get the money together to get it fixed.
