2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

I have a 2001 EX auto tranny. We, all know that year and the 02 are manufactured shitty. My question is can a 2004 dx/lx/ex auto housing fit onto an 2001 ex auto. Is there any modifications I have to do or just bolt right up? Also, what trannies can bolt up to an 2001. Is it possible to put a dx/lx instead an ex? I know the gear ratios would be different. I dont care I just need my civic to be running. Thank You in advance.

Re: 2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

am fairly sure the 04-05 is the same, just built better. not sure on the dx/lx working, you prolly need a different ecu.

It will bolt right up no problem. Stick with the EX tranny...it has better ratios.

Re: 2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

Thanks for all the replies. a manual swap cost as much as a kswap. Im not looking for a kswap right now. I already have k20a2 in my 03 DX. I just need to fix my daily. I have already looked on the TSBs, called American Honda and my local dealership. American Honda wanted me to go my local dealership to run a diagnostic on the transmission. Hell with that ****. its going to cost me $160 for the testing. When I know what is wrong. So, I do need to another ecu if i were go with a dx, lx or even hx?

Re: 2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

dude a used ex auto tranny will cost like 700 - 1200 used and 1500 - 2000 new
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Trans...spagenameZWD1V

I dont know about the Lx/Dx transmissions

So when u take that into effect then lets just say parts and labor = so about (ballpark) 1500 used i believe. Now this is a used auto tranny where the previous owner could have done the "rev it in neutral then slap it into D" hahahaha! Idk i wouldn't wanna risk that. I didnt when i had to get a new tranny a few months ago

Re: 2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

^^ Ok, kswap would cost more. but getting k20a3 around $1200shipped. swap is discounted. I have mounts, 2 subframes, all the parts for a kswap. I just dont want to put that in my daily. thats why i got a 03 dx shell.

that would make such a fun daily driver tho! hehehe.

but yeah i get what u are saying. I just dont like the auto trannies at all, and if i could i'd swap out to a manual asap so i could get that "auto driver by force" line out of my siggy lol

Re: 2001 Transmission Swap HELP!!

I want a manual so badly. Working with two mechanics they pressure me not to do it and just save money. Its just a daily. So, now im in pursuit of any trannies that bolt on 2001 Civic EX.
