overtightened valve cover bolt
just as the title says, i over tightened one of my valve cover bolts when i was putting it back on - i already know that i am an idiot for doing so, telling me this again will not solve my issue.
any idea on how to fix this? there is no oil leakage anywhere, and the bolt is not broken off, i just stripped the threads. the bolt doesn't come out easily either and it takes a little effort to get it to spin, but it will still come out and will spin with some effort. it actually happened a few months ago, and i have been keeping an eye on it to see if there are any oil leaks, there are none, but i want to fix it if i can. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

Re: overtightened valve cover bolt
you can heli-coil it but it's not a critical engine part and all the valve cover does is keep oil from coming out. If its not giving you any problems let sleeping dogs lie I say.

^^ Yup. Or Loctite has a "Thread Maker Thing" that you can put in there and then retap it. But if its not leaking, just let it be. Don't take the chance of any shavings getting into your oil from retapping.
