check throttle cable for granny slack if granny slack present remove granny slack.
also check the IAC valve it is located on the left side of the throttle body it is held on by three screws. remove it and clean it with TB cleaner or carb cleaner
search for the IAC valve cleaning in the DIY section for further instruction and pics

Re: Help!! Sluggish Performance

how many miles on the car?

First there's the basic maint items:

1. OIL!
2. Air filter element (usually every 15K or when dirty)
3. Fuel Filter (usually every 30K)
4. Spark plugs, rotor/cap (120K for platinum plugs, 60K for non)

Then there's the non regular maint items:

1. Coil
2. Fuel pump
3. Catalytic convertor (you know it's bad becuase you can't accelerate past ~35mph and the engine won't rev past 2.5K)

You can also use a carbon cleaning product. I recommend seaform marine cleaner, some swear by it others hate it. PM me if you want a rundown on how to use it. you can also go and take off the the entire intake and plenum and spray it all down with carb cleaner, let it dry, and throw it back on but that's fairly excessive. Umm yea thats all I can think of right now.
