aftermarket d17 rod bolts?
hey guys. i remember a member on this site that was boosted and said he used aftermarket d17 rod bolts. he said it came from a d16 i think and it was from ARP. does anyone know for sure which rod bolts to purchase and where i can get them from? im tired of spinning rod bearings! -___- i guess on that note are there aftermarket d17 rod bearings? thanks for your help! i searched and couldnt find.

andyman is the one you are thinking of. I don't know which size ours take, the 8 or 9mm. Either andyman or boilermaker1 will know. You can get either set from tunertoys.com. I'm pretty sure ours are the 8mm ones which are $35 for the set. The 9mm jobbers are $66 for the set.

Gerry did it. You just buy the ARP ones... they sell B series, and everything else. buy the "everything else" bolts, BUT, be aware that the stockers are studs and nuts, and if you plan on punching those studs out with the motor assembled, um, have fun with that.

thank you so much. so is it the 8mm or 9mm? lol i just hate buying something and finding out its not the right part later. can someone be as helpful to link me? thanks a lot.
oh also.... i bought ARP head studs. do i need a special socket from ARP to slap em on? the head of the nut is wierd looking and i dont have a socket shaped like that.

use a 12mm deep well 12 point on the nuts. Follow the torquing sequence and steps in the honda manual, then throw in an extra 5 lb-ft for good measure.

i see the questions on rod bolts were answered. as for the aftermarket bearing, ive heard of people using acl race bearings for d16's. not sure that i would recommend it though. the oem honda d17 bearings are coated and hold up pretty well. as for spinning bearings, make sure you dont have a bearing thats too thin and make sure the oilers on the crank arent clogged up.
