complete dismantle
ok... so i had some noise coming outta my tranny... it happens only under forward acceleration... so... i have decided to drop the exhaust... then the intake... disconnect the shocks... remove the subframe... removed the stabalizer bar... the intake... and wiring... and i will soon remove the last 2 mounts for the engine and tranny to then disconnect the bellhousing and drop the tranny out.... while leaving the engine in the car
its now 1:08 in the morning.... i have jus decided that if anyone or enough people would like me to write up a diy on this... ill make it and take the pictures upon reassembly... or if anyone just has any questions....
its late... ill be back tomorrow
also... im looking at the piping of my exhaust system... does anyone know what the outlets on the head to the header are (dimensions)... that and what are the dimensions of the inlet and outlet of the catalitic converter... im thinking of opening it up with a header and new piping... but i wouldn't be able to validate a larger circumfrance if there will be bottlenecks..... thanx again

Re: complete dismantle
Please do a DIY on pulling out the transmission. My input shaft bearing and my third gear synchro are both shot so the transmission is coming out later this month when I get back from school. Any tips would be helpful gsniper66

Re: complete dismantle
okay guys... i will be pulling apart the engine and bell housing today... along with the starter and the last two engine mounts and will soon be cracking open the transmission.... i will start the diy while on the reinstall phase after i find the issue......
the thing is... i can do it.... i would rather crack it open myself and look... which is what honda was going to do anyways... and this way... i can do things write.... i think i may also do a wire tuck on the reinstall.....

Re: complete dismantle
Stock exhaust outlets on a D17 head should be right around 33mm ( + or - a mm). I don't have a set of calipers at the house to measure it, but that's what my straight edge says.

Re: complete dismantle
the noise is across all gears... only under forward motion under the drive of the engine.... aka... it doesn't do it outta gear.... the noise is relative to the rpm the car is at...
